Overview

At Penn Jersey Diesel & Trailer, we’re seeking a Outside Sales Estimator based in the Bensalem, PA area to expand Penn Jersey’s footprint. The Outside Estimator is a customer-facing, field-based sales role responsible for generating revenue for the Penn Jersey Diesel & Trailer body shop, paint, and mechanical service lines. This role owns the full cycle of business development: prospecting new fleet, insurance, and dealer accounts; performing on-site damage assessments; preparing detailed repair estimates; and closing work into the shop. Success in this role is measured by the volume and quality of monthly revenue brought into the business, as well as the accuracy of estimates against actual repair costs. If you’re an experienced sales professional with a passion for fleet services, we invite you to bring your talent to a company where you can make an immediate impact.

This is a high-autonomy role suited to someone who thrives on the road, builds long-standing customer relationships, and can walk a truck or trailer and translate visible damage into a clear, competitive scope of work.

About Penn Jersey Diesel & Trailer

Penn Jersey is a trusted leader in commercial fleet solutions, specializing in Stoughton Trailer sales, diesel truck repairs, mobile trailer maintenance, and collision services. We pride ourselves on delivering unmatched service while fostering a workplace culture based on respect, trust, and opportunity.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Account Management

  • Identify and prospect new fleet, owner-operator, dealer, and insurance-partner accounts within the assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet managers, maintenance directors, insurance adjusters, and dealer service teams.
  • Grow revenue within existing accounts through consistent follow-up, service reviews, and proactive account planning.
  • Represent Penn Jersey Diesel & Trailer at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities as needed.

Damage Assessment & Estimating

  • Conduct on-site inspections of damaged trucks and trailers at customer yards, storage lots, insurance sites, and the Penn Jersey Diesel & Trailer locations.
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and competitive written estimates covering body, paint, mechanical, and trailer repair scopes.
  • Photograph and document damage thoroughly for internal shop teams, insurance carriers, and customer files.
  • Negotiate estimate revisions, supplements, and final scopes with insurance adjusters and customer fleet contacts.
  • Ensure estimates align with actual repair time, parts, and labor once work is in the shop, minimizing variance.

Shop Coordination & Handoff

  • Partner with the Body Shop Manager, Paint Foreman, and Mechanical Shop Manager on scope, sequencing, and expected repair timelines.
  • Communicate customer requirements and priorities clearly to the shop team at handoff.
  • Serve as the primary customer point of contact throughout the repair process — providing status updates, managing expectations, and resolving issues quickly.

Performance & Reporting

  • Meet or exceed monthly revenue targets tied to the commission plan.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of quoted work, tracking status from initial estimate through close.
  • Provide accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts to the General Manager.
  • Track and report on account activity, win/loss reasons, and territory trends.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare detailed, accurate repair estimates and negotiate scopes with fleet customers and insurance adjusters.
  • Working knowledge of heavy-duty truck and trailer construction, including body panels, doors, refrigeration units, chassis components, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to and negotiating with senior customer contacts.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work autonomously in a territory-based role.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) suitable for company vehicle use.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy-duty truck/trailer repair sales, collision/body shop estimating, insurance appraisal, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Mitchell, CCC, Audatex, or similar) and standard office software (email, spreadsheets, CRM tools).
  • Existing book of business or established relationships within the Southeast heavy-duty fleet, insurance, or dealer network.
  • Prior experience selling collision repair, paint, or mechanical services into commercial fleet accounts.
  • Familiarity with trailer manufacturers (Wabash, Utility, Great Dane, Hyundai) and heavy-duty truck OEMs.
  • Experience managing an assigned sales territory and monthly revenue quota.

Benefits

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay based on experience plus 2% commission on all new business revenue.
  • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement.
  • Paid time off, paid sick and paid holidays.
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement plan with a generous company match.
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays.
  • Supportive and growth-oriented team culture.
